A client within the Public Sector, based in Lincolnshire, is currently recruiting for a Housing Enforcement Officer to join their Housing / Environmental Health Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority housing enforcement environment.

The Role
The key purpose of the role is to protect public health and improve housing standards by ensuring compliance with housing legislation across a range of property types.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Investigating complaints regarding poor housing conditions across single dwellings, Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs), and mobile homes
- Inspecting properties under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), identifying and rating hazards, and producing detailed inspection records
- Preparing schedules of works and producing reports, notices, and correspondence to ensure hazards are remedied
- Taking appropriate informal or formal enforcement action, including serving statutory notices and supporting prosecutions where necessary
- Inspecting and licensing HMOs and properties within selective licensing areas, monitoring compliance with licence conditions
To be considered for this role, you will require:
- A relevant qualification in Environmental Health, Housing, or a related discipline
- Experience of housing enforcement within a local authority setting
- Knowledge of housing legislation, including HHSRS and HMO licensing
- Strong investigative and report-writing skills
- Experience taking formal enforcement action and preparing legal documentation
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
