About the Role: Housing Officer
As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of estate and tenancy management projects across Plymouth. Your primary focus will be providing a customer-focused service, resolving tenancy and estate issues, and fostering positive relationships within local communities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and resolving a varied caseload related to tenancy and estate management issues
- Conducting estate inspections, tenancy visits, and neighbourhood meetings
- Investigating anti-social behaviour (ASB) and working with external agencies to achieve outcomes
- Preparing for and attending court hearings related to housing cases
- Engaging residents through surveys, focus groups, and estate events
- Supporting neighbourhood improvement initiatives and estate action plans
- Supervising and mentoring Assistant Housing Officers, acting as a role model for professional standards
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven experience as a Housing Officer or in social housing, tenancy, or neighbourhood management
- Strong knowledge of social housing regulations, welfare benefits, and tenancy management
- Experience managing challenging antisocial behaviour cases with empathy and firmness
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise caseloads effectively
- Experience contributing to service improvements or supervising colleagues
