About the Role: Housing Officer

As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of estate and tenancy management projects across Plymouth. Your primary focus will be providing a customer-focused service, resolving tenancy and estate issues, and fostering positive relationships within local communities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing and resolving a varied caseload related to tenancy and estate management issues
• Conducting estate inspections, tenancy visits, and neighbourhood meetings
• Investigating anti-social behaviour (ASB) and working with external agencies to achieve outcomes
• Preparing for and attending court hearings related to housing cases
• Engaging residents through surveys, focus groups, and estate events
• Supporting neighbourhood improvement initiatives and estate action plans
• Supervising and mentoring Assistant Housing Officers, acting as a role model for professional standards

Candidate Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Proven experience as a Housing Officer or in social housing, tenancy, or neighbourhood management
• Strong knowledge of social housing regulations, welfare benefits, and tenancy management
• Experience managing challenging antisocial behaviour cases with empathy and firmness
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise caseloads effectively
• Experience contributing to service improvements or supervising colleagues

The pay rate for this contract role is between £20.00 - £24.00 per hour LTD, with an equivalent PAYE rate of £17.05 - £20.46 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay.
