A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Income Recovery Officer to join a Housing Association in Swanley, Kent, supporting effective rent and service charge collection within a leasehold service and helping to maximise income while sustaining tenancies.
THE ROLE
As an Income Recovery Officer, you will be responsible for managing income recovery across a leasehold portfolio, ensuring arrears are reduced and residents are supported to maintain their financial commitments.
The successful candidate will have previous experience working in an income recovery or rent arrears role within a housing environment.
Working Hours:
37hours per week
9:00–17:00 Monday–Friday
Length of Contract:
Fixed Term – 3 Months
Rate:
£34,552 per year, plus benefits

THE ROLE
As an Income Recovery Officer, you will be responsible for managing income recovery across a leasehold portfolio, ensuring arrears are reduced and residents are supported to maintain their financial commitments.
- Manage rent and service charge arrears across a defined leasehold patch
- Engage proactively with residents to agree and monitor affordable repayment plans
- Take early intervention action to prevent arrears escalation
- Prepare and progress cases for legal action where necessary
- Liaise with internal teams, legal services, and external agencies
- Provide clear advice on payment options, benefits, and financial support
- Maintain accurate case notes and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
The successful candidate will have previous experience working in an income recovery or rent arrears role within a housing environment.
- Proven experience in rent or service charge arrears management
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation and income recovery processes
- Confident communication skills with the ability to handle difficult conversations
- Experience negotiating and monitoring repayment arrangements
- Good IT skills and experience using housing management systems
- Full UK Driving License and access to own vehicle
