Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for former Police Officers to work as Investigating Support Officers on a full-time contract based near Newport, South Wales.
The role is paying £17.50p per hour (PAYE), and is for an initial 6 month period.
Role profile
This role will support the investigation of serious and complex criminal offences. You’ll work within an investigation team to progress enquiries as directed by the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO), supporting evidence-gathering activity and assisting with the recovery, management, and presentation of evidential material.

Role profile
This role will support the investigation of serious and complex criminal offences. You’ll work within an investigation team to progress enquiries as directed by the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO), supporting evidence-gathering activity and assisting with the recovery, management, and presentation of evidential material.
Key responsibilities / duties
- Work as part of an investigation team, gathering, reviewing and presenting evidence relevant to the investigation and department you’re deployed to.
- Obtain evidence from victims and witnesses, producing concise, legible documentation in line with relevant rules and legislation.
- Coordinate and complete house-to-house enquiries and CCTV enquiries as directed, completing associated documentation accurately and in line with procedures.
- Facilitate the capture and seizure of CCTV where required.
- Take responsibility for exhibit management, including submission and transportation, controlling movement of exhibits, and completing documentation for forensic submissions where required.
- Assist with preparing exhibits for court, ensuring they are suitable for presentation.
- Attend court when required to provide verbal evidence.
- Act as a liaison point between the SIO and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) when required.
- Use Force systems (including NICHE) and maintain databases relating to disclosure and exhibit management.
- Work in line with the CPIA, and where required undertake Disclosure Officer duties (reviewing, scheduling, and managing material in line with Codes of Practice).
- Review and present information received through enquiries, including CCTV, house-to-house returns, digital downloads, and third-party material.
- Complete research and assist with file preparation for submission to the CPS.
- Support interviews of suspects/witnesses in line with relevant legislation and codes of practice (subject to qualifications/accreditations).
Essential experience
- Former Police Officer (required).
- Experience supporting criminal investigations, including progressing enquiries and managing investigative actions.
- Experience taking statements / recording accounts from victims and witnesses (or equivalent evidential capture).
- Experience conducting or coordinating CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.
- Understanding of evidence handling and exhibit management (including continuity and documentation).
- Working knowledge of CPIA/disclosure processes (and confidence working to investigative governance and procedure).
- Competent use of police IT systems (including NICHE) and accurate case record keeping.
- Strong written communication skills (clear, concise documentation) and the ability to work as part of a team under direction.
