Learning and Development Trainer
Location: Unit 31, St Asaph Business Park, St Asaph, LL17 0JA.
Contract: 6 months fixed term with potential extension
Pay Rate: £18.41ph PAYE / £23.95ph Umbrella (paid weekly via an umbrella company)
Start Date: ASAP (Subject to police vetting)
About the Role:
To provide specialist training and development to police officers and new recruits, enabling them to fulfil their roles effectively. This will involve teaching cohorts, lesson planning, preparing training materials, and delivering training in line with national guidelines. The role supports future training responsibilities within Training, Learning and Development and responds to emerging training requirements across the Force.

About the Role:
To provide specialist training and development to police officers and new recruits, enabling them to fulfil their roles effectively. This will involve teaching cohorts, lesson planning, preparing training materials, and delivering training in line with national guidelines. The role supports future training responsibilities within Training, Learning and Development and responds to emerging training requirements across the Force.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, and deliver training materials and supporting documentation.
- Deliver IPLDP, PCSO, Special Constable, and other relevant training requirements.
- Deliver the upcoming PEQF curriculum in collaboration with Bangor University.
- Contribute positively to team planning processes.
- Provide post-training advice and guidance as required.
- Lead projects and initiatives related to training development when required.
- Assess training candidates effectively.
- Monitor trends to develop appropriate training programmes and materials.
- Quality assure and evaluate training events and programmes.
- Support the development of systems and structures that promote fairness and staff progression.
- Liaise with internal departments to maintain up-to-date knowledge of delivery issues.
- Assist with and invigilate examinations and assessment centres.
- Support new Training and Development projects introduced by North Wales Police.
- Promote and comply with North Wales Police policies on equal opportunities and health and safety.
- Perform any other duties as directed by a Supervisory Officer commensurate with the post.
- Carry out significant lesson planning, preparation, and administration associated with training delivery.
Essential skills and experience:
- Teacher/trainer qualification (e.g., PTLLS, Award in Education and Training, or equivalent).
- Commitment to achieving relevant qualifications for progression from Unqualified to Qualified status (funded by the Force).
- Ability to travel across the Force area; possession of a full driving licence is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Awareness of Data Protection, Computer Misuse, and other relevant policies and legislation.
- Knowledge of the Initial Police Learning and Development Programme and the future PEQF curriculum.
- Experience in training delivery, including lesson planning, briefing, and presentation/trainer skills.
- Policing experience, which would be advantageous.
- For Qualified candidates: Cert. Ed or equivalent, or Level 4 Learning & Development Qualification (TDP) – Police Equivalent.
- Evidence of training and professional development within the past 2 years.
