Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: Full time (32.5 hours per week)
Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role: This position is based at Hanson Local Authority Led Resourced Provision for Vision Impaired children and young people. The Learning Support Assistant will work under the direction of the S19 Teacher in Charge to support children and young people with vision impairments and additional needs. The role involves facilitating access to learning using technology such as iPads and specialist equipment, both within mainstream settings and the Resourced Provision.

Key Responsibilities
- Support individual or groups of children and young people (CYP) with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Assist with lesson access using specialist tools and technology.
- Promote learning and improve outcomes in line with the National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice.
- Maintain discipline and ensure pupil safety, hygiene, and wellbeing.
- Implement Individual Education Plans and Personal Care Programmes.
- Provide clerical and administrative support.
- Supervise pupils during non-lesson times and accompany them on trips.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback.
- Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, carers, and professionals.
- Ensure safeguarding policies are followed and contribute to pupil welfare.
- Minimum 3 years’ specialist experience working with children and young people with complex SEND.
- Knowledge of SEN legislation and teaching strategies.
- Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent agenda, and health & safety regulations.
- Experience using complex IT packages and interpreting information.
- Ability to speak fluently and spontaneously in English.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Skilled in supporting differentiated learning and using appropriate resources.
- GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Evidence of further training or CPD in SEND.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
- Must have access to a useable car at all times.
- Willingness to work across different venues and services as needed.
