Are you passionate about empowering young people as they transition from care to independence? We’re looking for a Leaving Care Personal Adviser to join a 16+ team with the local authroity of Luton, supporting young people aged 15–25 as they navigate the challenges of adulthood.

About the Role As a Leaving Care Personal Adviser, you will:
- Work with a caseload of young people, completing pathway plans and helping them achieve their personal goals.
- Support young people to develop independence skills, access education, employment, and training opportunities.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to secure and maintain housing and support services.
- Provide practical and emotional guidance, linking young people to specialist support when needed.
- Lead group work sessions, including our weekly care leavers’ forum, promoting participation and shaping the services we deliver.
- Manage your caseload effectively, maintaining accurate records and ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
- Has at least 2 years’ experience working with young people aged 15–25.
- Understands the challenges young people face, such as housing, benefits, education, training, or employment.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is committed to multiagency working, safeguarding, and delivering high-quality, inclusive services.
- Can organise and manage a caseload, balancing administrative duties with direct support.
- Undertake needs assessments and create/review pathway plans in line with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.
- Support young people to transition to adulthood, maximising their social, educational, and personal potential.
- Provide advice and ongoing support to care leavers moving into supported accommodation.
- Participate in duty desk rota to respond promptly to enquiries from young people.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to departmental procedures.
- Promote equal opportunities, anti-oppressive practice, and safeguard the welfare of young people.
- Represent the department in professional meetings and forums.
- This role is office-based at the 16+ office, with occasional travel to meetings across other locations.
- You will primarily support care leavers, but may occasionally work with young people who remain looked-after.
