Make a Real Difference in Young People’s Lives We’re currently recruiting for a dedicated and passionate Personal Advisor to join Rochdale Borough Council’s Cared For Children Service.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support care leavers and young people aged 16 as they transition into independence — helping them build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes for their future.

About the Role As a Personal Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in supporting young people leaving care by:
? Experience working with vulnerable young people, particularly those in challenging circumstances
? Strong ability to build relationships and engage young people in planning and problem-solving
? Knowledge of Children Leaving Care legislation and Local Authority responsibilities
? Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and digital)
? Ability to assess needs, support independence, and develop effective plans
? Confidence to respond professionally in challenging or crisis situations
? Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload

- Holding a caseload and working directly with care leavers
- Supporting the development, review, and delivery of Pathway Plans
- Helping young people prepare for independent living
- Acting as an advocate to ensure young people access the services and support they’re entitled to
- Working closely with multi-agency partners including housing, education, health, and employment services
- Maintaining regular contact and building positive, trusting relationships
- Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns
- Support young people to successfully transition from care to independence
- Coordinate services to meet the needs identified in Pathway Plans
- Encourage young people to engage in education, employment, and training
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with service standards
- Promote young people’s involvement in their own planning and decision-making
- Manage your own workload effectively and work to deadlines
