Service Care Legal are working with a London Borough Council seeking a Legal Assistant to support its Housing and Litigation team on a short-term contract. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a local authority legal service, working on housing disrepair and statutory nuisance matters.
ROLE: Legal Assistant – Housing Disrepair
LOCATION: North West London (Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office)
CONTRACT: 3-month contract, 36 hours per week
RATE: £25.88ph umbrella / £23.16ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £20.66ph PAYE exc. Holiday pay
Please note that this role would require office attendance 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a caseload of housing disrepair and statutory nuisance matters from instruction through to resolution
- Liaising with the Council’s Housing and Disrepair teams to obtain relevant documentation in line with disclosure requirements under the Housing Disrepair Pre-Action Protocol and Environmental Protection Act 1990 claims
- Instructing expert surveyors and reviewing and assessing technical reports relating to alleged disrepair
Requirements:
- A law-related qualification (i.e. LPC / LLM / LLB) with at least 1 year Housing Law experience
- Experience of dealing with caseloads in relation to Housing Disrepair would be essential
- Previous working experience at a local authority would be highly advantageous
