Litigation Lawyer

Service Care Solutions is working with a well-known local authority based in Stockport to recruit an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join their established and award-winning Legal Services team on a permanent basis.

You will join a friendly and collaborative team of ten colleagues, working within a supportive environment where professional development is encouraged and valued. You will also become an integral part of an award-winning Legal Team of up to 50 colleagues across five specialist legal sub-teams

• Location: Stockport – Hybrid Working attendance at least 2 days per week
• Salary: £45,091 – £51,356 per annum (MB4) + additional benefits and pay award pending
• Contract: Permanent

Your Role

As a Litigation Lawyer, you will play a key role within the Litigation team, providing high-quality legal advice and representation across a broad range of regulatory and enforcement matters.
Responsibilities as a Litigation Lawyer:

• Leading and engaging in criminal enforcement and regulatory work.
• Providing high-quality legal advice to internal council departments and stakeholders.
• Advising and representing the Council in relation to Trading Standards and Environmental Health matters.
• Dealing with breaches of enforcement notices, including matters relating to Planning.
• Advising on and dealing with Premises Licensing matters.
• Advising on Taxi and Private Hire Licensing matters.
• Managing a varied caseload from instruction through to resolution.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and internal departments to achieve effective legal outcomes.

About you as a Litigation lawyer:

We are looking for an experienced and confident litigator and advocate who is able to manage a varied caseload and provide high-quality legal advice.

• At least 5 years' PQE working in Litigation Law.

• A current practising certificate qualifying you to practise in England.
• Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) with litigation rights.
• Experience of criminal enforcement and/or regulatory work, gained either in private practice or within another public organisation.
• Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• A genuine desire to develop your knowledge and expertise.

Experience across all of the areas listed above is not essential, as support and development will be provided. A can-do attitude, flexibility and a willingness to learn are key attributes for this role.
