Location: Reading
Hours: Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary (until end of January 2027)
Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour PAYE | £17.09 per hour (Umbrella) inc Holiday Pay

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Parks Cleansing Operative to join a busy Streetscene Team in Reading.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces.

About the Role
You will play a key role in the day-to-day cleansing of parks and open spaces, helping deliver a high-quality service to residents, businesses, and visitors.

This is a hands-on, physical role where you will be working outside in all weather conditions as part of a supportive and hardworking team.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out litter picking and general cleansing duties across parks and open spaces
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in line with set schedules
• Conduct visual inspections of children’s playground equipment and safety surfaces
• Report any defects or hazards to the relevant teams
• Support other operational teams during peak periods
• Ensure public safety and enforce byelaws with professionalism and tact
• Drive work vehicles (vans/tippers) to transport equipment, materials, and waste
• Carry out basic maintenance checks on equipment

RequirementsEssential:

• Full UK manual driving license (Category B or C1)
• Confident driving vehicles up to 3.5 ton (vans/tippers)
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual duties
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

• Experience in cleansing, grounds maintenance, or similar outdoor roles
• Basic understanding of manual handling
• Experience or knowledge of playground inspections (RPII Level 1 beneficial, but training provided)

Additional Information

• Based at Bennet Road Depot, Reading
• Full insurance and license checks carried out before driving duties (via Fleet Management)
• Training provided where required
• No interview required – immediate starts available (first come, first served)
