Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Parks Cleansing Operative to join a busy Streetscene Team in Reading.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces.

You will play a key role in the day-to-day cleansing of parks and open spaces, helping deliver a high-quality service to residents, businesses, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out litter picking and general cleansing duties across parks and open spaces
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in line with set schedules
- Conduct visual inspections of children’s playground equipment and safety surfaces
- Report any defects or hazards to the relevant teams
- Support other operational teams during peak periods
- Ensure public safety and enforce byelaws with professionalism and tact
- Drive work vehicles (vans/tippers) to transport equipment, materials, and waste
- Carry out basic maintenance checks on equipment
RequirementsEssential:
- Full UK manual driving license (Category B or C1)
- Confident driving vehicles up to 3.5 ton (vans/tippers)
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual duties
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in cleansing, grounds maintenance, or similar outdoor roles
- Basic understanding of manual handling
- Experience or knowledge of playground inspections (RPII Level 1 beneficial, but training provided)
Additional Information
- Based at Bennet Road Depot, Reading
- Full insurance and license checks carried out before driving duties (via Fleet Management)
- Training provided where required
