Are you an experienced General Practitioner (GP) looking for flexible Out of Hours (OOH) and Urgent Care locum opportunities across Preston and Chorley?

Service Care Solutions is recruiting experienced Locum Urgent Care GPs to support leading NHS commissioned Urgent Care services across Preston and Chorley. We are seeking confident clinicians who are experienced in delivering high-quality urgent and primary care services across face-to-face consultations, telephone triage, and community-based settings.

OOH Urgent Care GP Responsibilities As a Locum Urgent Care GP, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing timely clinical assessment, advice, and treatment for patients accessing urgent care and out of hours services.
  
  
• Conducting face-to-face consultations, telephone triage, and clinical assessments across a range of treatment settings.
  
  
• Managing a broad range of acute medical conditions, minor injuries, and urgent care presentations.
  
  
• Assessing, diagnosing, and developing appropriate treatment plans for patients.
  
  
• Prescribing safely in line with local formularies and evidence-based clinical guidance.
  
  
• Making appropriate referrals to secondary care, community services, and specialist pathways where required.
  
  
• Supporting urgent care pathways and alternatives to hospital admission.
  
  
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including Clinical Leads, Advanced Practitioners, Nurses, Care Coordinators, and other healthcare professionals.
  
  
• Supporting patient streaming between urgent care services and co-located emergency departments where required.
  
  
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  
  
• Providing clinical advice and support to other healthcare professionals.
  
  
• Delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care while maintaining professional standards.

Candidate Requirements

• GMC registered General Practitioner with a current licence to practise.
  
  
• Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
  
  
• Previous experience working within Primary Care, OOH, Urgent Care, or Emergency Medicine.
  
  
• Confident managing a varied urgent care caseload independently.
  
  
• Experience managing common medical, surgical, and psychiatric presentations.
  
  
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
  
  
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  
  
• Excellent communication and patient consultation skills.
  
  
• Experience using clinical systems such as Adastra and EMIS is desirable.
  
  
• Valid professional indemnity insurance.
