A Local Council in Kent are seeking an experienced Building & M&E Surveyor to join their Property & Projects team. This is a varied role involving inspections, compliance, and delivery of both planned and reactive works across the Council’s commercial property portfolio. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the condition, safety, and performance of non-domestic assets, supporting the delivery of capital and maintenance programmes.

A Local Council in Kent are seeking an experienced Building & M&E Surveyor to join their Property & Projects team. This is a varied role involving inspections, compliance, and delivery of both planned and reactive works across the Council’s commercial property portfolio. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the condition, safety, and performance of non-domestic assets, supporting the delivery of capital and maintenance programmes.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and survey building fabric and M&E systems across council-owned and leased assets.
- Undertake contract administration duties including design, specification, valuations, and project delivery.
- Support compliance activities including asbestos, fire safety, legionella, gas, and LOLER inspections.
- Manage reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and minor works ensuring quality and value for money.
- Contribute to the Council’s energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reduction objectives.
- Maintain accurate records and asset data using the corporate asset management system.
- Provide reports and technical advice to senior management.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and statutory regulations.
- HNC/HND in Building Studies, Building Surveying, or Building Services.
- Proven experience within property maintenance, surveying, or construction project delivery.
- Strong understanding of M&E systems, building pathology, and statutory compliance.
- Experience within local government or housing desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of asset management systems advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to undertake site inspections safely.
