Major Repairs Surveyor

A client within the Public Sector based in County Durham is currently recruiting for a Major Repairs Surveyor to join their Property Repairs Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having
experience of working within a local authority within a building repairs or housing maintenance environment.

The Role
The key purpose of the role is to provide technical expertise, surveys and repairs coordination across the Major Repairs Team, ensuring a high-quality service that balances cost, quality and risk while maintaining the organisation’s housing portfolio.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Undertaking surveys of housing stock to diagnose building defects and structural issues.
• Recommending effective remedial actions and preparing detailed expert reports where required.
• Coordinating and investigating disrepair claims in line with housing legislation.
• Providing technical advice across the Major Repairs Team and supporting informed decision-making.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations and contributing to contract administration and record keeping.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Educated to HNC level in a relevant discipline and/or working towards or professionally qualified in CSTDB.
• Sound technical knowledge and understanding of major repairs processes.
• Experience of diagnostic testing and assessing repair requirements.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong understanding and application of Health & Safety management.
• Excellent report writing and IT skills, including use of repairs ICT systems.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement abilities.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £25 per hour Umbrella LTD (approx. £20 per hour PAYE, Inside IR35).
