MASH Practitioner (Agency) – Children & Young People

Are you an experienced practitioner with a passion for safeguarding children and supporting families at the earliest opportunity?
We’re working in partnership with Suffolk County Council to recruit a MASH Practitioner to join their busy and impactful Children & Young People service. This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of decision-making, where your work will directly influence outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
? About the Role As a MASH Practitioner, you’ll be part of a dynamic Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, working collaboratively with professionals across social care, health, education, and the police to assess and respond to safeguarding concerns.
This is a hybrid role with a balance of office-based work (3 days) and home/community working (2 days).

? Key Responsibilities
- Triage and assess safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people
- Apply the Signs of Safety and Wellbeing framework to inform decision-making
- Provide clear advice, guidance, and signposting to families and professionals
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure timely interventions
- Identify and escalate risk appropriately in line with safeguarding procedures
- Maintain accurate and high-quality case records and reports
- Support early help interventions and contribute to assessments and planning
- Manage a varied and busy caseload effectively
- Offer guidance and informal mentoring to less experienced colleagues where needed
- Experience working directly with children, young people, and families
- Background in early help, family support, or similar community-based services
- Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and statutory frameworks
- Proven ability to work within multi-agency environments
- Confident in assessing risk and making sound professional judgements
- Excellent communication, organisation, and report-writing skills
- Experience contributing to assessments (CAF, statutory, multi-agency)
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate concerns
- Comfortable working in community settings and transporting children when required
- Enhanced DBS (Children’s)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable for community work)
