MASH Practitioner (Agency) – Children & Young People
? Suffolk (Endeavour House & Hybrid Working)
? Start Date: ASAP | Duration: 6 Months
? Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 37 Hours per Week

Are you an experienced practitioner with a passion for safeguarding children and supporting families at the earliest opportunity?

We’re working in partnership with Suffolk County Council to recruit a MASH Practitioner to join their busy and impactful Children & Young People service. This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of decision-making, where your work will directly influence outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

? About the Role As a MASH Practitioner, you’ll be part of a dynamic Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, working collaboratively with professionals across social care, health, education, and the police to assess and respond to safeguarding concerns.

This is a hybrid role with a balance of office-based work (3 days) and home/community working (2 days).

? Key Responsibilities
  • Triage and assess safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people
  • Apply the Signs of Safety and Wellbeing framework to inform decision-making
  • Provide clear advice, guidance, and signposting to families and professionals
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure timely interventions
  • Identify and escalate risk appropriately in line with safeguarding procedures
  • Maintain accurate and high-quality case records and reports
  • Support early help interventions and contribute to assessments and planning
  • Manage a varied and busy caseload effectively
  • Offer guidance and informal mentoring to less experienced colleagues where needed
? What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working directly with children, young people, and families
  • Background in early help, family support, or similar community-based services
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and statutory frameworks
  • Proven ability to work within multi-agency environments
  • Confident in assessing risk and making sound professional judgements
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and report-writing skills
  • Experience contributing to assessments (CAF, statutory, multi-agency)
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate concerns
  • Comfortable working in community settings and transporting children when required
? Essential Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS (Children’s)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable for community work)
? Why Apply? This is a brilliant opportunity to join a forward-thinking local authority, where your expertise will be valued and your impact will be immediate. You’ll be part of a supportive team environment, helping to shape better outcomes for children and families across Suffolk.
