Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Multi-Trade Operative to carry out a variety of carpentry, plumbing, and other general trade tasks across Abri properties and communal areas. This role involves delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance work, ensuring customer satisfaction, and upholding Abri’s values in every interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out multi-skilled trade work to NVQ Level 2/3 standards, including:
- Carpentry, plumbing, masonry (internal and external works)
- Deliver work to a professional standard, adhering to building regulations, codes of practice, and best practice.
- Ensure jobs are completed on time and right first time, wherever possible.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, keeping them informed of job progress.
- Refer complex issues or queries to a line manager for appropriate resolution.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Use risk assessments and method statements appropriately, including PPE and safe working practices.
- Accurately use a PDA, smartphone, or tablet to record job progress, time, materials used, and completion.
- Maintain accurate records and complete paperwork in line with Abri policies.
- Procure materials via approved suppliers and manage van stock efficiently.
- Keep the company vehicle clean, roadworthy, and report any issues promptly.
- Support other trades as needed and undertake additional training to broaden skill sets.
- Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
- Use and maintain tools and equipment responsibly, reporting any faults or issues.
- Act as an ambassador for Abri, demonstrating values of Integrity, Respect, and Excellence at all times.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience carrying out carpentry and plumbing tasks in domestic and/or commercial settings.
- NVQ Level 2 (or above) in Carpentry, Plumbing, Masonry – or time-served with equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under time constraints.
- Full UK driving licence (clean).
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual tasks as part of the role.
- Confident using digital devices (e.g. tablets, PDAs) for job management.
- Experience working in housing or property maintenance environments.
- Familiarity with SOR (Schedule of Rates) costing and job variation procedures.
- Understanding of safeguarding practices in tenant-facing roles.
