We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mutual Exchange Officer to join a busy Choice Based Lettings team within an established housing association in Plymouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in mutual exchanges, housing allocations, lettings or tenancy management, looking for a new interim opportunity with the potential to move into a permanent position.
The Role Working as part of the Choice Based Lettings team, you will be responsible for managing mutual exchange applications and supporting customers through the exchange process, ensuring applications are processed accurately and in line with housing legislation, policies and procedures.
You will work closely with tenants, internal housing teams and external partners to ensure exchanges progress efficiently and any issues are resolved promptly.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process mutual exchange applications from initial enquiry through to completion.
- Assess applications against relevant housing policies, tenancy conditions and eligibility criteria.
- Liaise with tenants to obtain the required information and documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure applications are progressed within agreed timescales.
- Identify and resolve issues that may prevent or delay an exchange.
- Provide clear and accurate advice to tenants throughout the mutual exchange process.
- Maintain accurate records and update relevant housing systems.
- Work closely with the Choice Based Lettings / Allocations and Lettings teams.
- Liaise with other housing associations and local authorities where required.
- Ensure all processes are compliant with relevant legislation and organisational procedures.
- Respond to customer queries professionally and effectively.
- Meet targets and deadlines within a busy housing environment.

- Experience of working within a housing association or local authority.
- Previous experience dealing with mutual exchanges, allocations, lettings or tenancy management.
- Good knowledge of social housing processes and tenancy requirements.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage a caseload and prioritise competing deadlines.
- Good IT and housing management system skills.
- The confidence to liaise with tenants, colleagues and external organisations.
- 12-week initial contract
