Newley Qualified Social Worker - Family Help Worker
Location: Nottingham City - Multiple Hubs
Contract type: Full Time – 37 Hours Per Week - Initially 3 months with potential to extend

We are working on behalf of Nottingham City Council and an opportunity has risen for a qualified Social Worker looking for a role where you can build meaningful, long-term relationships with children and families — without holding a statutory social work caseload
This is a fantastic opportunity for both experienced and newly qualified Social Workers to step into a rewarding, relationship-based role focused on early help, family resilience and sustainable change.
About the Role
As a Family Help Worker, you will work directly with children, young people (0–19) and families across Nottingham City — in family homes, schools, family hubs and partner agency settings.
You’ll play a vital role in strengthening families, reducing risk, and improving outcomes through trauma-informed and relational practice.

About the Role
As a Family Help Worker, you will work directly with children, young people (0–19) and families across Nottingham City — in family homes, schools, family hubs and partner agency settings.
You’ll play a vital role in strengthening families, reducing risk, and improving outcomes through trauma-informed and relational practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete Early Help Assessments and SMART multi-agency action plans using the Signs of Safety framework
- Act as Lead Professional, arranging and chairing Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings
- Support families subject to Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) Plans (alongside the Social Work Lead)
- Deliver high-quality personal and social development interventions
- Help families identify and strengthen their own support networks
- Provide professional challenge to agencies and families to promote lasting change
- Work within a duty system to ensure families always have access to support
- Maintain accurate records using electronic case management systems
- Contribute to reflective supervision and ongoing professional development
- Promote Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in all areas of practice
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW or equivalent)
- Social Workers with less than 3 years PQE welcome
- Experience working with children, young people and families
- Experience completing assessments and support plans
- Experience chairing multi-agency meetings
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of legislation
- Ability to manage complex situations and crisis scenarios
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Willingness to work flexibly when required
