About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join a specialist learning environment in Wheatley, Oxfordshire, on a maternity cover basis from October 2026 to October 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting children and young people with a range of additional learning and support needs.
Working full-time during term time, you will provide high-quality occupational therapy assessment, intervention and advice, helping learners develop their independence, participation and functional skills within the educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess the occupational therapy needs of children and young people and develop appropriate individualised intervention plans.
- Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy support to learners.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support teams, families and other professionals.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, reviews and care planning.
- Provide practical advice and strategies to support learners' participation, independence and wellbeing.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adapt plans as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and documentation.
- Support and advise staff through training and guidance around occupational therapy approaches.
- Promote a person-centred, strengths-based approach to supporting learners.
- Ensure all practice is delivered in line with professional standards, safeguarding requirements and organisational policies.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with relevant professional registration and experience working with children and/or young people.
You will ideally have:
- A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and current HCPC registration.
- Experience of working with children or young people with additional needs.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and intervention skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A flexible, proactive and solution-focused approach.
- A commitment to promoting independence, inclusion and positive outcomes for learners.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
