Hours: Part Time, 22.5 hours per week (3 days between Monday and Friday)

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a dedicated and passionate Occupational Therapist to join a specialist team supporting children and young people in Sunderland. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact, helping children and young people achieve positive outcomes through high-quality occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and collaborative support.

About the Role You will work primarily in educational settings, with some clinic-based and remote working opportunities where appropriate. The role focuses on supporting children and young people with developmental, educational, and therapeutic needs, ensuring they can reach their full potential through tailored occupational therapy interventions.

Working closely with families, educational professionals, and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will help integrate therapy goals into everyday environments and routines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess children and young people's developmental, functional, and learning needs, including those linked to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Develop, implement, and review individualised occupational therapy intervention plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions within school, clinic, and community settings.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, teaching staff, and multidisciplinary professionals to embed therapy strategies into daily life.
  • Provide practical advice, guidance, and training to support those involved in a child's care and education.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress against agreed therapy goals and outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and documentation.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, reviews, and discussions regarding children's ongoing support needs.
  • Support children and young people with a range of developmental, complex, and SEMH needs.
Requirements
  • HCPC Registration.
  • RCOT Registration.
  • Undergraduate Degree or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Desirable Experience
  • Paediatric Occupational Therapy experience, ideally within school-based or specialist settings.
  • Experience conducting EHCP assessments and contributing to statutory processes.
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH, developmental, or complex needs.
  • Additional specialist training, CPD, or qualifications in areas such as trauma-informed practice or related therapeutic approaches.
