About the Role
Northwest Leicestershire District Council is seeking a skilled and reliable Painter to join our busy Repairs and Maintenance team. This role involves delivering a wide range of painting, decorating, and general maintenance services across our housing stock. While most work will take place in occupied residential properties, some assignments will also be in vacant homes.
We are looking for a professional tradesperson who takes pride in their work, demonstrates high standards of customer service, and has the flexibility and initiative to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all painting and decorating works to a high standard, in accordance with regulations and manufacturer guidelines
- Accurately record time, materials, and job information using a smartphone/PDA device
- Conduct site surveys to determine the scope of work and required materials
- Maintain vehicle stock to ensure efficiency and promote a ‘Right First Time’ approach
- Contribute to a team culture focused on continuous improvement and excellent customer service
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- NVQ/City & Guilds Level 2 in Painting and Decorating, or equivalent industry-recognised qualification
- Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices
- Full UK driving licence (a company vehicle will be provided)
- Proven experience in domestic painting, repairs, and maintenance
- Ability to diagnose issues and determine appropriate remedial work
- Competence in working in confined spaces and challenging environments
- Ability to understand and follow detailed manufacturer instructions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage professionally with tenants and colleagues
- Demonstrates a flexible and proactive approach to work
