Pay Rate: £14.23 per hour About the Role We are looking for a motivated and organised People Services Administrator to join the Business Support team at Thames Valley Police HQ. This role provides essential HR and business support across recruitment, resourcing, employee administration, learning & development, and service desk functions. You will be the first point of contact for staff and stakeholders, ensuring a high-quality, professional, and confidential service that supports operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and timely advice and support to staff, managers, and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Accurately input, update, and quality-check data across HR and people management systems.
- Support recruitment processes, including applicant management, vetting, references, contracts, onboarding, and coordination of assessment centres and events.
- Assist with employee administration such as resourcing changes, sickness, flexible working, leavers/retirements, and maternity processes.
- Provide administrative support for learning and development activities, including timetabling, course enrolment, and training logistics.
- Contribute to the production of management information and reports to support decision-making.
- Deliver service desk and reception support, managing queries via helpline, mailbox, and face-to-face channels.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders and contribute to continuous service improvement.
- GCSEs (Grade A–C / 9–4) or equivalent in English and Maths.
- Proven experience in a busy administrative role (ideally in HR, recruitment, or learning & development).
- Strong IT skills, confident with Microsoft Office and able to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Flexible, adaptable, and resilient with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends if required.
- NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service or Business Administration (or willingness to achieve).
- Experience of recruitment, resourcing, or planning processes.
- Knowledge of employment law, police regulations, or HR best practice.
- Full UK driving licence (advantageous for travel to other sites).
