A client within the Public Sector based in Grearer London is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join their Development Management Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a planning environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to act as the lead planning officer for a defined area of the Borough, ensuring a coordinated approach to planning, development and regeneration while supporting the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused planning service.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Leading on major and complex planning applications, development proposals and planning performance agreements
• Managing and supporting a small team of planners, graduates and technical support officers to ensure applications are processed effectively within target times
• Negotiating complex Section 106 agreements and contributing to planning obligations that generate significant funding for the authority
• Preparing and presenting professional planning reports and advice to senior stakeholders, including councillors, committees and public inquiries
• Representing the Council at public meetings, site visits, hearings and appeals relating to planning matters
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• An RTPI-recognised degree level qualification in Town Planning or equivalent
• Eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
• Extensive experience of development management including major or complex planning applications
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience negotiating planning obligations (S106 agreements)
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior planning staff
• Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy and development management processes
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £41 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £31 per hour PAYE).
