A client within the Public Sector based in Devon is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join their Development Management Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience working within a local authority planning environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the delivery of an effective and efficient planning service through the processing and assessment of planning applications, preparation of reports, and provision of professional planning advice to applicants, developers, and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Processing and preparing reports on planning applications, listed building applications, advertisement consent applications, consultations, and legal agreements.
• Ensuring applications comply with Town and Country Planning legislation and Development Plan policies.
• Providing professional advice to applicants, developers, agents, and members of the public regarding planning and enforcement matters.
• Undertaking negotiations and consultations with developers and stakeholders to support positive development outcomes.
• Liaising with internal departments, County Council officers, statutory consultees, and Town/Parish Councils.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Degree or Diploma in Town and Country Planning (or related discipline).
• Significant experience within Development Management / Development Control, ideally within a local authority.
• Strong knowledge of Town and Country Planning legislation, policy, and procedures.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
• Strong negotiation, communication, and report writing skills.
• Experience working with elected members and Town/Parish Councils.
• Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines within a busy planning environment.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior planning staff.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £53 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £42 per hour PAYE).
