Contract: 12 months fixed term with potential extension 
Pay Rate: £16.97 PAYE per hour (paid weekly via umbrella company)
Start Date: ASAP (subject to police vetting)


About the Role:

Dorset Police is recruiting a Force Trainer to design, develop and deliver high-quality training programmes for police officers, staff, PCSOs, Specials and volunteers. Working within the Alliance People Department (Learning & Development), you will help ensure our workforce has the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to meet current and future organisational demands.

Based primarily at Ferndown Police Station, you will deliver classroom-based learning, support new recruits, and provide training across a range of force programmes. This is an engaging and rewarding role where you will shape the development of colleagues across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and deliver engaging training packages, including classroom sessions and practical learning.

  • Use a range of teaching techniques, tools and technology to support diverse learning needs.

  • Identify training needs and create appropriate training interventions.

  • Assess learner performance against national standards and provide constructive coaching and feedback.

  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure training materials are kept up to date.

  • Support the development of the annual Force Training Plan.

  • Represent Learning & Development at internal and external meetings.

  • Work flexibly to support training delivery across Dorset and, when required, Devon & Cornwall.


Essential skills and experience:

  • Hold a recognised training/teaching qualification
    (e.g., Police Trainer Certificate, City & Guilds FAETC, Certificate of Education, Certificate in Training Practice, NVQ Level 3 in Learning & Development)
    or possess extensive relevant experience with a willingness to achieve the qualification.

  • Be able to design bespoke training solutions based on identified needs.

  • Demonstrate strong values, ethics and professionalism.

  • Communicate confidently and adaptably with learners at all levels.

  • Be highly organised and able to manage multiple training demands.

  • Work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and building strong working relationships.

  • Be IT literate, with experience using MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
