Port Health Administrator – Ashford, KentLocation: Ashford, Kent, TN25 – Office Based
Contract: Temporary – 6 Months, with a view to extension
Pay Rate: £19.38 LTD per hour
Hours: Average 37 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 6-week rolling rota covering 24/7 operations, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

The RoleService Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Port Health Administrator to join a busy Border Control operation based in Ashford, Kent.
This is primarily an office-based administrative position, supporting the processing of imported goods entering the UK. Full training will be provided on the relevant systems, processes and procedures.
Alongside your administrative responsibilities, you will provide support to Environmental Health Officers and Official Veterinarians carrying out inspections within the inspection sheds.
Key Responsibilities

• Complete documentary checks using IPAFFS and internal systems
• Use AI-assisted systems to process and verify documentation
• Carry out CHED and IUU document checks
• Respond to enquiries from import agents and hauliers via telephone and email
• Escalate queries, issues and complaints where appropriate
• Assist Environmental Health Officers and Official Veterinarians during inspections
• Carry out identity and seal checks on consignments
• Record inspection information using tablets and the PHILIS system
• Support sampling activities and detention procedures
• Coordinate vehicle movements across the Border Control Post
• Liaise with multiple agencies to support the efficient processing of consignments
• Maintain accurate records and remain up to date with relevant legislative changes and disease outbreaks

6-Week Rolling Shift PatternThe role operates across a 24/7 rota, so candidates must be comfortable working a mixture of early, late and night shifts, including weekends.

Candidate RequirementsWe are looking for candidates who have:

• Previous administrative experience within a busy working environment
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
• Flexibility to work the full rotating shift pattern, including nights and weekends
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene

Previous experience within food safety, import/export, logistics, regulatory services, port health or environmental health would be advantageous, although this is not essential as full training will be provided.
A driving licence would be beneficial due to the location of the site but is not essential.
