Principal Housing and Litigation Lawyer

Service Care Legal are currently recruiting for an experienced Principal Housing and Litigation Lawyer to join a respected Local Authority in West Yorkshire on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis, with the potential for the role to become fully remote, depending on business requirements and individual circumstances.

Location: West Yorkshire
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid working, with the potential for fully remote working

Key Responsibilities for a Principal Housing and Litigation Lawyer:

• Managing a complex and varied caseload of housing and litigation matters.
• Providing specialist legal advice to Council departments, senior officers and other key stakeholders.
• Advising on a broad range of housing matters, including homelessness, possession proceedings, tenancy issues, housing disrepair and other related areas.
• Conducting and managing litigation, including preparing cases for court, drafting legal documentation and representing the Local Authority where appropriate.

About you as a Principal Housing and Litigation Lawyer:

• Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEX, with substantial post-qualification experience.
• Significant experience in housing law and civil litigation, ideally gained within a Local Authority, public sector organisation or similar environment.
• Experience managing complex and high-value legal matters.
• Strong advocacy, negotiation and communication skills.
