We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate remote Probation Officer to join our PSR writing team. As a Probation Officer, you will play a crucial role in the criminal justice system by working with individuals on probation to ensure their successful rehabilitation and reintegration into society. This position offers a competitive pay rate of £28.63 per hour and provides the flexibility to support a healthy work-life balance.

Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality Pre-Sentence Reports (PSRs) for court, providing clear, evidence-based assessments and recommendations in line with national standards and sentencing guidelines.
- Analyse complex case information, including criminal history, risk assessments, and personal circumstances, to inform sentencing proposals.
- Conduct remote interviews (via telephone or video) with individuals awaiting sentence to gather relevant background and risk information.
- Assess risk of harm and likelihood of reoffending, applying professional judgement and recognised risk assessment tools (e.g. OASys).
- Liaise effectively with stakeholders, including court staff, defence solicitors, prosecutors, and other criminal justice partners, to ensure reports are accurate and timely.
- Meet strict deadlines, ensuring all reports are completed and submitted within required timescales for court hearings.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records, complying with data protection and organisational policies.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, incorporating feedback from managers and the judiciary to continually improve report standards.
- Stay up to date with relevant legislation, sentencing frameworks, and probation policy, ensuring professional practice remains current and compliant.
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in probation, parole, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of criminal justice procedures and rehabilitation principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
