A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Procurement Officer to join their Commissioning and Procurement – General Services Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority procurement environment.

To support and deliver high-quality procurement, e-procurement and category management activity, ensuring the Council achieves value for money, legislative compliance and consistent use of electronic tendering systems.

The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To support and deliver high-quality procurement, e-procurement and category management activity, ensuring the Council achieves value for money, legislative compliance and consistent use of electronic tendering systems.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Supporting best practice procurement and category management to achieve value for money
- Delivering lower value or lower complexity procurement projects from specification through to contract award
- Providing advice and guidance to service areas to ensure compliant procurement processes are followed
- Supporting and maintaining effective use of electronic tendering systems and e-procurement platforms
- Collecting, analysing and reporting spend and market data to support procurement decision-making
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications and experience:
- A minimum of a Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) such as a diploma, foundation degree or HND
- At least 1 year’s experience working within a procurement, commissioning or category management role
- Knowledge of public sector procurement legislation, policies and procedures
- Experience using electronic tendering systems (e.g. Due North or similar)
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including use of MS Excel
- Ability to manage procurement projects and work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
