Housing Improvement Project Officer
Location: Arun, West Sussex / Hybrid
Contract: 12 Weeks Temporary
Rate: £22.59 LTD per hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid, with office attendance required on an ad hoc basis
We are currently recruiting for a Housing Improvement Project Officer to join a local authority in West Sussex on an initial 12-week temporary contract.
This is a predominantly remote role, with attendance at the office only required on an ad hoc basis.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Housing Improvement Programme Lead, supporting the delivery of the Council’s Comprehensive Housing Improvement Plan, Housing Improvement Board and wider regulatory improvement programme.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of the Comprehensive Housing Improvement Plan
- Maintain programme plans, action trackers, milestones and delivery schedules
- Monitor progress across improvement workstreams
- Track and report risks, issues, actions and dependencies
- Prepare reports, briefings and presentations for senior management, Members and the Housing Improvement Board
- Coordinate updates and assurance information from Housing and Property service leads
- Maintain governance records, decision logs and programme documentation
- Track actions arising from audits, reviews, programme meetings and regulatory activity
- Support Consumer Standards and regulatory improvement work
- Assist with self-assessments, gap analysis, evidence libraries and assurance documentation
- Analyse and present performance, compliance and programme information
- Coordinate stakeholder and resident engagement where required
- Work across Housing, Property, Finance, Procurement, Governance and Corporate Services
- Support communications around the progress of the Housing Improvement Programme
- Identify opportunities to strengthen project management, governance and reporting arrangements
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- Housing improvement, transformation or service improvement programmes
- Project or programme support within social housing or local government
- Housing regulation and Consumer Standards
- Programme governance, action tracking and risk management
- Producing reports and information for senior management or boards
- Working across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Monitoring performance, compliance and improvement actions
