Property Lawyer

Service Care Legal are working with a Sussex-based local authority is seeking an experienced Property Lawyer to join its Legal Services team on an initial 6+ month contract, providing cover while a permanent vacancy is recruited.

ROLE:                  Property Lawyer
LOCATION:          Sussex
RATE:                   £60.00ph umbrella / £53.27ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £47.53ph PAYE exc. holiday pay
CONTRACT:        6+ months, 30–37 hours per week


Please note that this role would require a minimum 1 day per week in the office.


The Role
 

• Advising on property acquisitions and disposals, licences and Landlord & Tenant matters.
• Negotiating and completing property transactions on behalf of the Council.
• Advising on the structuring of property deals and associated legal risks.
• Providing advice relating to Assets of Community Value, best value disposals and Subsidy Control.
• Managing your own caseload and providing clear, commercially focused legal advice.
• Representing the Council and attending meetings and committees where required.

About You

• A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with a current practising certificate
• Strong experience in property law, ideally within a local government environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage a varied caseload independently and work to deadlines.

Additional Information
 

• Initial 6+ month contract, with potential for extension.
• Minimum 1 day per week in the office.
• Attendance at monthly Legal & Governance meetings is required in person.
• DBS check required.
