A client within the Public Sector based in North Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Regional Bus Service Lead to join their Transport & Strategic Planning Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a transport services or public sector environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to lead on the planning, delivery, and strategic development of bus services across York and North Yorkshire, supporting the Mayor’s priorities and transport improvement objectives.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Managing and overseeing the delivery of bus service operations under the existing and future operating models.
• Collaborating with City of York Council and North Yorkshire Council teams to align service delivery with the Mayor’s priorities.
• Leading on improvements to bus services through enhanced partnerships and reform options (including franchising).
• Developing a combined Bus Service Improvement Plan for York and North Yorkshire.
• Supporting and shaping transport policies and delivery strategies in collaboration with senior leadership and stakeholders.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will be required to have:
• Proven knowledge of bus service delivery within a public sector/local authority environment.
• Experience in managing or contributing to Bus Service Improvement Plans, Enhanced Partnerships, and/or bus reform strategies.
• Strong leadership experience, with the ability to motivate teams and influence outcomes.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaborative working skills.
• Experience managing multiple workstreams within complex programmes.
• Strategic planning ability with sound problem-solving and delivery focus.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £30 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £24 per hour PAYE).
