Are you an experienced Children’s Residential Manager looking for an opportunity to lead a service where you can genuinely make a difference to the lives of children and young people?
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Children’s Home Manager to take overall responsibility for the management and development of a children’s residential home in Rochdale.
This is a senior leadership position where you will be responsible for ensuring the home delivers high-quality, safe and nurturing care, whilst providing strong leadership to the staff team and ensuring the service operates in line with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice.
The Role As Registered Children’s Home Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring that children and young people receive outstanding care and support that promotes their:

Key Responsibilities As the Registered Manager, you will:
- Have overall responsibility for the operation and management of the children's home.
- Ensure the home operates in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, statutory guidance and its Statement of Purpose.
- Lead on safeguarding, risk management and child protection.
- Ensure high standards of care planning, recording and outcomes for young people.
- Promote the voice, rights and participation of children and young people.
- Lead, motivate and develop the residential care team.
- Provide effective supervision, reflective practice, coaching and professional development.
- Support recruitment, selection and induction of new staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and management cover are maintained.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Monitor staff performance, sickness and attendance.
- Maintain strong relationships with families, professionals and external agencies.
- Lead on quality assurance, auditing and monitoring across the home.
- Prepare for and respond effectively to regulatory inspections.
- Implement recommendations and improvement plans following inspections or internal reviews.
- Ensure appropriate Regulation 45 and Regulation 46 processes are undertaken.
- Monitor records, care plans and practice to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Chair meetings where appropriate and provide positive professional challenge when required.
- Develop an annual improvement and development plan for the home.
- Ensure the home provides a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment for every young person.
You will ideally have:
- At least 5 years' experience working in residential childcare/social care, including working with families.
- At least 2 years' management experience within residential childcare or social care.
- Experience of supervising, managing and developing staff teams.
- Experience of staff recruitment and selection.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
- A sound understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding children's residential care.
- Experience working within a multi-agency environment.
- Experience of care planning, placement planning and review processes.
- Experience managing budgets and resources.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, families and professionals.
- The ability to lead, motivate and challenge a staff team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A commitment to promoting the rights, voice and participation of children and young people.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for looked-after children.
