Contract: Full-time Temporary – 6 Months

We’re recruiting on behalf of local authority and are recruiting for a Registered Manager to lead a well-established 5-bed children’s residential home in Stevenage, supporting Looked After Children (LAC) in a high-risk environment. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced leader who thrives in fast-paced settings and is motivated by achieving exceptional standards of care.

 Key Responsibilities As the Registered Manager, you will:
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of a busy, multi-bedded children’s home
  • Provide strong, motivational leadership to the care team
  • Manage staff rotas, budgets, and operational performance
  • Take ownership of recruitment, interviewing, and ongoing staff development
  • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted standards and maintain excellent inspection outcomes
  • Prepare and submit SC2 (Schedule 2) registration forms
  • Lead by example during challenging or high-risk situations
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for young people
 Person Specification Essential
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Previous Ofsted registration experience and involvement in inspections
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience managing children’s residential services
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, LAC frameworks, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven competence in rota planning, budget management, and service oversight
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable
  • Experience in high-risk or therapeutic residential settings
  • A strong track record of improving Ofsted ratings
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and conflict-resolution skills
