? The Role As the Registered Manager, you will take full responsibility for the leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of the home, ensuring it operates in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and achieves Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings.
You will:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring consistently high standards of care
- Create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children and young people
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring all safeguarding practices are robust
- Drive a positive, inclusive culture where children feel valued and heard
- Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, striving for excellence
- Oversee care planning to ensure positive outcomes in education, wellbeing, and independence
- Build strong relationships with external professionals and partner agencies
- Manage, develop, and inspire your staff team through effective leadership
- Ensure all safeguarding concerns are handled in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children
- Maintain high-quality risk assessments and behaviour support plans
- Lead on Regulation 44 & 45 processes, ensuring continuous improvement
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and legislative frameworks
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team
- Deliver regular supervisions, appraisals, and team meetings
- Support staff development, including progression to Level 3 Residential Childcare qualifications
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and care
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
(Must hold Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare) - Minimum 2 years’ experience in regulated children’s residential care (within the last 5 years)
- At least 1 year in a supervisory or management role
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 & Ofsted frameworks
- Proven experience managing safeguarding and complex behaviours
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience managing a Good or Outstanding Ofsted-rated home
- Experience opening or registering a new children’s home
- Knowledge of therapeutic / trauma-informed care approaches
- Competitive salary of £45K – £55K
- Additional pay for weekend on-call (rota basis)
