Repairs Surveyor

A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Damp, Mould & Disrepair Surveyor to join their Repairs, Maintenance & Building Safety Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a housing/property services environment.

The Role
To act as a Subject Matter Expert on damp, mould and disrepair, ensuring a proactive, compliant and customer-focused approach while supporting the organisation in maintaining safe, decent homes.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Carrying out damp, mould and disrepair surveys and inspections in line with legislation and housing standards.
• Managing disrepair cases from initial claim through to settlement, including SCOTT Schedules and expert witness duties.
• Providing technical advice to tenants, colleagues and contractors on the root causes and prevention of damp and mould.
• Maintaining accurate digital property records to support compliance and informed decision-making.
• Collaborating with internal teams to shape strategies, policies and best practices for damp, mould and disrepair management.

The Candidate To be considered for this role you will require:
• A Level 4 qualification (HNC/NVQ) or proven extensive relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of damp, mould, disrepair legislation and landlord statutory duties.
• Experience diagnosing building defects and recommending technical solutions.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Membership of CIOB, RICS or similar (or willingness to work towards).
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Good IT skills including Excel, Word, Outlook and database systems.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £25 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £18 per hour PAYE).
