We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Residential Care Workers to join our Small Group Homes and Woodview services within Children’s Social Care. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of looked-after young people by delivering bespoke, high-quality care that achieves the best possible outcomes.

The Role As a Residential Care Worker, you will play a key role in providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for young people. You will work closely with colleagues, families, and professionals to promote positive relationships, independence, and personal development. This includes:

  • Providing day-to-day care and support in line with care and placement plans.
  • Acting as a positive role model, using restorative and relationship-based practice.
  • Supporting children both in the home and in the community, including outreach and family work.
  • Encouraging educational, social, and emotional development, while advocating for full-time education or training.
  • Promoting health, wellbeing, and independent living skills to prepare young people for the future.
  • Maintaining accurate records, safeguarding young people, and ensuring all policies and regulations are followed.
  • Contributing to team development, training, and continuous improvement.
This role requires working on a flexible rota, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and occasional sleep-ins (allowance payable).

About You We are seeking individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people to thrive. You will need:

  • Experience of working with children.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A commitment to high standards of care and positive outcomes for young people.
  • An understanding of Children’s Home Regulations and the Children Act 1989 (or willingness to develop this).
  • The ability to work flexibly as part of a team and engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and anti-discriminatory practice.
Qualifications required:

  • Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Willingness to achieve Level 4 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) within 2 years of appointment.
