Residential Child Care Officer

We are looking for a Senior Residential Child Care Officer (SRCCO) to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality day-to-day care for children and young people living in our residential homes. You will act as a corporate parent, ensuring children’s needs are met, their rights are respected, and their voices are heard.

We are looking for a Senior Residential Child Care Officer (SRCCO) to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality day-to-day care for children and young people living in our residential homes. You will act as a corporate parent, ensuring children’s needs are met, their rights are respected, and their voices are heard.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the smooth running of the home.
- Acting as a key worker for children and young people, advocating for them and supporting their education, health, and wellbeing.
- Helping to formulate and deliver Care Plans, Placement Plans and Pathway Plans.
- Providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where children can thrive.
- Leading shifts and supervising staff (after 12 months’ experience).
- Promoting independence and preparing young people for adulthood.
- Maintaining high standards of care in line with legislation, regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
- Experience working with children, young people, and families in a professional or voluntary setting.
- Ability to support children with emotional, behavioural, or additional needs.
- Understanding of safeguarding, children’s rights, and relevant legislation.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, and promoting positive outcomes.
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and occasional overnight stays during holiday activities.
- A QCF Level 3 in Children & Families (or willingness to complete within 6 months of employment).
