Make a Real Difference Where It Matters Most This is more than a job — it’s a chance to change lives.

We are looking for compassionate, resilient and committed Residential Child Care Officers to join our established residential services. Whether you already have experience in residential childcare or bring strong transferable skills, this role offers a rewarding career supporting children and young people to feel safe, valued and able to thrive.

You will work as part of a dedicated team, under the guidance of the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and Senior Residential Care Officers, to provide a warm, nurturing and stable home environment that meets the emotional, social and physical needs of looked after children and young people.

What the Role Involves
  • Providing high-quality care within a structured residential setting

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people

  • Supporting individuals who may present with complex or challenging behaviours

  • Acting as a strong advocate and positive role model — demonstrating a “good parent” approach

  • Working in line with the home’s ethos and Statement of Purpose

  • Participating fully in team working, training and development

  • Working flexibly on a rota that includes evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts

This is a demanding role, but one that offers genuine purpose, strong team support and the opportunity to see real progress in young people’s lives.

Our Residential Services We have opportunities across a range of residential provisions, including:

  • Homes supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)

  • Short Break services offering overnight stays for children and young people with disabilities or complex health needs

  • Medium to long-term homes for children and young people with disabilities or complex health needs, providing stability and opportunities to flourish

We are also continuing to expand our services in Doncaster, with future opportunities including an emergency and end-of-care provision planned to open in 2025.

This single application can be considered for all services. Placement will be discussed collaboratively, taking into account your experience, skills and preferences.

What We’re Looking For
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Resilience, flexibility and emotional intelligence

  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare

  • Experience with, or transferable skills for, supporting young people with complex behaviours

  • Willingness to advocate for children and provide consistent, nurturing care

If you’re unsure whether your experience fits, we actively encourage you to get in touch — we’re happy to talk through the role with you.

Pay, Benefits & Rewards
  • £43.12 per sleep-in shift

  • Inclusive allowance of 8.5% for unsocial working hours

  • Rota includes 2 weekends off in every 4

  • Overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours over 37

  • South Yorkshire Pension Authority contributions

  • Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development

Training & Career Development We are committed to investing in our staff.

  • Mandatory completion of the Level 3 TQUK Diploma in Residential Childcare within two years (fully supported)

  • Behaviour support training including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)

  • Support to achieve Maths and English Level 2 (if not already held)

  • Opportunities to progress to the Level 5 TQUK Diploma in Leadership and Management for those wishing to develop their career
