Residential Support Worker

Are you passionate about making a difference in children’s lives? We're looking for three dedicated Residential Support Workers to join the team at JGS – John Greenwood Shipman Centre, a vibrant and specialist short breaks service for children and young people aged 5–18.

37 hours per week |  3-month contract |  Shifts include days, nights & weekends

About the Children We Support: Children attending JGS may have:

• Severe learning disabilities
• Autism, ADHD, or dual diagnoses
• Mild physical disabilities and complex behaviours associated with their conditions

We provide highly structured, safe, and nurturing short breaks to support children’s development and give families valuable respite.
About the Home: JGS is a 6-bed short breaks service located in a quiet residential area of Northampton, specially designed to meet the complex needs of children and young people.
Facilities include:

• Sensory room & soft play area
• Themed child-friendly bedrooms
• Smart TV lounges & computer gaming room
• Accessible bathrooms & Jacuzzi bath
• Enclosed garden and outdoor play areas
• Kitchen & dining spaces for independence & socialising
• Minibus for off-site activities

Your Role as a Residential Support Worker:

• Deliver safe, person-centred care within a structured environment
• Support with personal care, daily routines, and social development
• Promote independence, inclusion, and positive relationships
• Engage children in fun, meaningful activities on-site and in the community
• Work flexibly across a rota covering days, nights, and weekends

• Experience or strong interest in supporting children with complex needs
• A caring, patient, and resilient approach
• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy residential setting
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
