Location: High Wycombe
Duration: 3-Month Rolling Contract
Hours: 24 Hours per Week (Part-Time)
Rate: £17.17 umbrella an hour (£13.72 PAYE an hour)

We are currently recruiting 3 Residential Support Workers on behalf of a well-established children’s residential service in High Wycombe. This is a 3–6 month interim opportunity to support the service while permanent recruitment is underway.

About the Service You will be working within a residential short breaks service supporting young people aged 5–18 with disabilities. The service provides overnight care, giving families and carers essential respite.

The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

  • Work 1:1 with a young person throughout your shift
  • Support children and young people with complex needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and challenging behaviours
  • Assist with personal care, moving and handling, and daily routines
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment
  • Work collaboratively with a wider team to deliver high-quality care
The service typically supports 2–8 young people at any one time.

Shift Pattern
Please note: flexibility is not available on shift times

  • Shifts: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
  • Rota provided up to 6 weeks in advance
  • Shifts confirmed directly with the agency
Requirements Essential:
  • Ability to build and maintain appropriate relationships and boundaries with children and young people
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and/or disabilities
  • Confidence working with challenging behaviours
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to safely lift and handle children and young people
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by those with physical disabilities and appropriate support methods
Desirable:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a residential care setting
Additional:
  • Basic moving and handling / hoisting knowledge
  • Physically able to support personal care and daily activities
