About the Role:

The Risk Practitioner will provide specialist risk management support across a broad portfolio of construction and infrastructure programmes within Network Rail’s Western and Wales region. The role involves leading quantitative risk assessments (QRA) for cost and schedule, maintaining risk registers, facilitating workshops, and producing high-quality risk analysis to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and deliver Cost and Schedule Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) using @Risk and Safran tools.

  • Maintain and manage project and programme risk registers, ensuring workshop outcomes, interviews, and updates are accurately reflected.

  • Ensure risks remain current, well-articulated, and appropriately owned, escalating aggregated risks as necessary in collaboration with other Risk Practitioners.

  • Work closely with project managers and wider stakeholders to identify, assess, manage, monitor, and communicate key risks that could impact business objectives.

  • Analyse risk data to produce clear, actionable reports, dashboards, and briefings for managers and senior stakeholders.

  • Facilitate risk workshops and support risk awareness across project teams.

  • Ensure risk information is effectively integrated and translated throughout the programme lifecycle.

  • Support continuous improvement of risk processes, tools, and frameworks across the region.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in risk management within major construction, infrastructure, rail, or capital delivery environments.

  • Proven capability in running cost and schedule QRA, with strong proficiency in @Risk and Safran.

  • Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative risk methodologies.

  • Experience maintaining risk registers and coordinating input across diverse project teams.

  • Ability to analyse complex data and translate outputs into concise reports and presentations.

  • Excellent facilitation skills, with confidence running workshops and stakeholder sessions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.

  • Experience working within large, multidisciplinary organisations (Network Rail experience advantageous but not essential).
