Overview of the role We are currently recruiting for a Safer Homes Officer to support a busy Asset Management & Sustainability team within a large Housing Association.

This is an operational compliance support role focused on ensuring statutory safety programmes (including gas, electrical, fire safety and asbestos) are delivered efficiently, data is accurately maintained, and access to properties is effectively managed.

You’ll work closely with Contract Managers, contractors, and residents to keep compliance on track, resolve no-access cases, and provide real-time performance information across Safer Homes programmes.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting Contract Managers to ensure safety programmes run efficiently and compliantly
  • Monitoring statutory, regulatory, and contractual compliance across all workstreams
  • Managing compliance databases, certification, and programme data
  • Producing reports and dashboards for operational and senior management
  • Identifying risks, anomalies, or non-compliance and escalating appropriately
  • Leading on no-access cases, including resident liaison, appointment scheduling, and referrals
  • Managing Access and Referral processes in line with safeguarding procedures
  • Liaising with residents, contractors, and internal stakeholders to secure access for inspections and works
  • Raising works orders, processing invoices, and maintaining accurate records
  • Taking ownership of cases and driving issues through to resolution
Requirements
  • Experience within housing, compliance, asset management, or property services
  • Working knowledge of housing safety areas (gas, electrical, fire safety, asbestos)
  • Strong data management and reporting experience
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Confident communicator with experience dealing with residents and contractors
  • Comfortable working independently while supporting wider operational teams
  • Strong IT skills, including compliance systems and reporting tools
