Job Title: School Cleaner (Primary School)

Location: Primary School Site
Hours: Variable – Morning or Evening Shifts Available

Job Purpose:
To maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for pupils, staff, and visitors by carrying out a range of cleaning duties across the primary school premises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean classrooms, corridors, offices, and shared areas.

  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.

  • Empty bins and dispose of waste in accordance with school procedures.

  • Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, and washroom areas.

  • Wipe and sanitise desks, tables, door handles, and other frequently touched surfaces.

  • Clean windows, glass panels, and internal doors where required.

  • Refill cleaning supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet roll.

  • Ensure cleaning equipment is used safely and stored correctly.

  • Report any maintenance issues, damages, or health and safety concerns to the Site Manager.

  • Follow school safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control procedures at all times.

Working Hours:

  • Hours may vary depending on school needs.

  • Shifts may include:

    • Early morning shifts (before school opening)

    • Evening shifts (after school closing) Flexibility may be required during school events or holiday periods.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow cleaning and safety procedures.

Desirable:

  • Previous cleaning experience (school or commercial environment preferred).

  • Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.Additional Information:

  • An enhanced DBS check may be required due to working within a school environment.

  • Full training and cleaning equipment will be provided.
