Location: Cheshire East Council

Are you passionate about making a real difference for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Cheshire East Council is looking for a dedicated SEND Keyworker to join our SEND Team.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate person-centred, outcome-focused assessments and support plans for children and young people with SEND.

  • Manage a caseload of children with EHCPs, ensuring annual reviews are completed and plans updated.

  • Act as the main point of contact for schools, colleges, specialist settings, and families, building strong, collaborative partnerships.

  • Chair and contribute to multi-agency meetings, analysing professional advice to make clear and outcome-focused recommendations.

  • Represent the Local Authority at mediation and appeals, including First Tier Tribunals.

  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to families, enabling them to make informed choices and access appropriate provision.

  • Monitor outcomes, track progress, and review provision to ensure that the needs of children and young people are fully met.

What we’re looking for:

  • A graduate-level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Education, Social Work, Health, or similar.

  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, statutory frameworks, and child-centred assessment and planning.

  • Experience of working with children and young people with SEND in education, local authority, health, or related settings.

  • A track record of successful partnership working with schools, agencies, families, and young people.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills with the ability to manage a demanding caseload.

  • Flexibility and commitment to ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Why join us?
You’ll be part of a passionate, supportive team that puts children and families at the heart of everything we do. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your career in SEND within a forward-thinking local authority.
