Role Overview
As a SEND Case Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering the statutory SEND service across Middlesbrough. You’ll be responsible for managing a varied caseload that includes:
- Children newly referred for assessment
- Children undergoing the statutory assessment process
- Children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) requiring ongoing review
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain your allocated caseload efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare and write high-quality reports and documentation in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Work collaboratively in a multi-agency environment, maintaining strong professional relationships with partners, schools, and families.
- Represent the SEND Assessment and Review Team in meetings and reviews.
- Visit schools and educational settings as required.
- Maintain excellent record-keeping and data management to meet statutory milestones.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in SEND casework or education-based roles.
- Knowledgeable about the SEND Code of Practice and statutory assessment processes.
- Highly organised with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident working independently and as part of a supportive, collaborative team.
- Calm under pressure, optimistic, and solution-focused when facing challenges.
