A client within the Public Sector based in Stoke-on-Trent is currently recruiting for a Senior Building Surveyor to join their Building Regulations & Land Charges Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority building control environment.

The Role

The key purpose of the role is to efficiently and effectively assess applications for Building Regulation consent and undertake associated building inspections, ensuring the authority fulfils its statutory responsibilities and performance standards.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Assessing Building Notice and Full Plans Applications and carrying out site inspections to ensure compliance with the Building Act and Building Regulations.
  • Undertaking the assessment of dangerous structures and initiating appropriate actions, including serving legal notices and liaising with emergency services.
  • Providing professional advice to architects, engineers, surveyors, builders, and the public on Building Regulation compliance.
  • Preparing technical reports, inspection records, and enforcement recommendations.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of the Division’s Quality Management System.
  • Project managing major and complex development schemes both within and outside the partnership area.
  • Deputising for the Building Regulation Manager or Principal Surveyor when required.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
  • degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Corporate Membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or CABE.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Building Regulations, Fire Safety, and Dangerous Structures legislation.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Strong project management experience on major and complex developments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop staff.
  • Competence in using IT systems relevant to building control and inspection.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approx. £38 per hour PAYE).
