Location: London / Hybrid

We are working with a leading organisation seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to support their Repairs & Surveying function. This role sits within a senior leadership team, delivering high-quality surveying services across major works, complex repairs, and building safety-related programmes.
You’ll take ownership of a defined geographical area, ensuring homes are safe, well maintained, and compliant while driving improvements, leading surveyors, and helping implement a new Repairs Strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of surveyors to deliver a consistent, high-quality surveying service across major, complex and reactive works.
  • Act as a senior technical expert, conducting full building surveys, preparing detailed reports, cost analyses and recommendations.
  • Prepare designs, specifications, tender documents and procurement advice for complex works and programmes.
  • Manage contractor performance through data insight, KPIs and strategic contract management, taking action to improve service delivery.
  • Provide professional input on alterations, planning matters, home improvements and building regulations.
  • Act as Party Wall Surveyor and lead on dilapidations negotiations.
  • Oversee performance of major works, latent defects, cyclical programmes, FRA-related works, EPC matters and technical assessment.
  • Support development of new-build design reviews, sign-offs and stock condition templates.
  • Mentor and support surveyors in achieving professional accreditation and improving technical capability.
  • Work collaboratively across operations, assets, estates and external partners to ensure homes and places are well maintained.
  • Lead on analysing contract performance, identifying root causes and implementing improvement actions.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, H&S requirements, and risk management processes.
  • Represent the organisation at internal and external meetings, advocating for residents and quality of service.
Requirements
  • BSc/MSc in a relevant surveying discipline + Chartered status (MRICS/CIOB).
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience surveying in residential property.
  • Strong experience delivering major works, preparing tender packs, scopes, cost appraisals and managing complex programmes.
  • Proven background in performance improvement and contract management.
  • Strong customer focus with ability to manage queries, complaints and stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent written, verbal and IT skills.
