Senior Childcare Advocate

Service Care Legal are currently recruiting on behalf of a North London Borough Council for an experienced Childcare Advocate to join their in-house legal team on a rolling 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor or Barrister with strong public childcare law experience who enjoys advocacy and wants to focus primarily on representing the local authority at court.
 
ROLE:                  In-House Childcare Advocate
LOCATION:          North / West London
RATE:                   £55ph umbrella / £48.89ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.62ph PAYE exc. holiday pay
CONTRACT:        36 hours per week / 3 months rolling
 
The Role
 

• Conduct advocacy at public law childcare hearings on behalf of the Council.
• Progress cases through the court process, attending hearings as required.
• Support the wider legal team with drafting, legal advice and training when advocacy commitments allow.
• Work collaboratively with Children's Services and legal colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.

 
The Candidate

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive Advocate with rights of audience.
• Strong experience conducting advocacy in public childcare proceedings.
• Confident managing hearings independently with excellent advocacy skills.
• Local authority experience is desirable but not essential.
